Just wondering why we say "head-over-heels," when what we really mean is "heels-over-head."
Someone once asked me why we say we are going to "take a sh*t," when what we mean is that we are going to "give a sh*t."

Kevin O'Leary of the "Lang & O'Leary Report," on CBC Newsworld, says in a promo for the show, "Greed is good and I love money."
I'm wondering if he has ever seen pigs at a slop-trough. It is not a pretty sight.
If his sentiments were shared, the able would tromp on those less able.
Oh yea, I guess his sentiments are shared; it is why financial managers bilk old retirees of their life savings.
Greed and money are often the rhyme and reason for corruption, cheating, lying, stealing, killing and a host of other evils.
Kevin O'Leary is sure ignorant for such an otherwise seemingly astute thinker.
Nevertheless, I wish he would share some of his money with me; I am most assuredly less able.

(Don't bother reading this; it is personal and boring).
Thankfully, I only committed the mistake of marriage once. I married in late 1971 (I was 21); we separated in late 1973 (I was 23). I was single and unattached from 1974 until July 1977, when a girlfriend and I drove trans-Canada and back, spending 65 days on the road. We lived on Vancouver Island, in Campbell River and then Lake Cowichan, from mid-September until Christmas in 1977. We stayed together until July 1979, at which time I moved from Nelson, BC, to Edmonton, AB. I've been blissfully single ever since. I am now 61; I have been single for 32 years. I usually cook for myself; therefore, I stay skinny; (thin?)... ~;>)=+==//\\ii - aq 2011-03-21

To KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken);
I do not plan to spread the word; however, I feel the need to at least tell you...
When I see your advertisments on television, bragging about "good food," I do not know whether to laugh or to gag.
The last time I ate food from a KFC outlet was in 1986. I told myself to never eat there again; the food was that bad.
That was 25 years ago. Has anything changed? I will not waste my money to find out for myself, thank you very much.
The KFC I am referring to was located at 142xx Stony Plain Road in Edmonton AB, Canada. I think it may have since gone out of business.
I would be surprised if it did manage to stay in business, serving such appetite-destroying crispy-cardboard-crap.
I am truly surprised that KFC, as a franchise, ever managed to survive so long.
I guess some people actually consider KFC fowl to be food! Sad...
Sincerely, aq 2011-03-21

Wild hogs in Texas are out of control; they cause ove $400 million damage each year. They are agressive; even deer are in danger. Hunters use big dogs, like Great Danes and Bull Mastiffs, to hunt them. The dogs wear GPS and neck guards. Hogs are also a big problem in Hawaii. The Hawaii hogs are among the biggest in the world; they have no natural enemies there. Hogs are very intelligent. Males, called "boars," have large tusks. The females are called sows.

For some people, mostly men, the sight of a beautiful young female in blossom is a spiritual experience.
Using a rational approach, appreciation can be understood to be non-violent and life-affirming.
It would be good if we taught the young to have a grip on reality rather than pretending everyone is equally attractive.
We are aware that some people are taller, or smarter, or richer, or a better singer, or a better whatever. Each person is the best at being themselves; nobody else can ever be them.

"Blow your own horn," with the public's money has been the Conservatives strategy in this pre-election environment.
The Conservatives have bought 6,200 TV spots in the last few months, spending millions of dollars of taxpayer money.
Now that an election is called, there are election spending limits in effect.
I find it extremely offensive to my dignity and integrity thinking the Conservative government is trying to brainwash me and shove thier fascist, right-wing thinking down my craw at my expense.
Stephen Harper is a George W. Bush wanna-be in his thinking. He is trying to lead Canada in an American-type direction.
My Canada has a heart. Prisions and jet-fighters are not my idea of a free and healthy country.
Do you realize that America has 5% of the world's population and 23% of the world's incarcerated people. Do we want to mirror those statistics in Canada?
If Stephen Harper, the "little Hitler," were ever given a majority government, Canada would never be the same. It would be a shame!

Harper is speaking on TV, announcing the dissolution of Parliament. He is using scare tactics. Threatening Liberal coalition(s) and patting himself on the back for Canada's relative prosperity and stability. Harper talks about Liberals raising taxes, a tax-and-spend disaster in the making; meanwhile, he ignores the fact that he inherited a surplus from the previous Liberal government, and that he intends to give tax cuts to big business, build more prisons, buy fighter airplanes, tighten marijuana laws, and take Canada one step backward from the Canada I dream about. He's now saying the Liberals would break the government via a coalition with the Block Quebecois and New Democrats; more scare tactics, more lies, more spin. He has no conscience, saying Canada needs a majority Conservative government. The idea of a majority Conservative government in Canada scares the bejezus out of me. One of the scary things he has already done is to order that government documents read "from the Harper Government," rather than "from the Government of Canada." That is just one more reason I think of him as a "little Dictator." Also, he is rejecting the claim he signed-on to a potential coalition government with the Block and the New Democrats, and instead is now accusing Michael Ignatif of keeping it as a secret agenda. Harper lies. It brings to mind the old adage, "The pot should not call the kettle black." Harper seems to think he can have egg all over his face and nobody will notice.

Right-wing politicians and Conservatives often decry the media as being too left-leaning and liberal. It seems to me that there is a reason that the media is liberal in its views. There are many more smart people working as commentators and journalists than there are smart people in the general populace. Not-so-smart people are much more easily swayed by the slogans and rhetoric of the "right" than are more astute thinkers. Three-quarters of people have an I.Q. of 110 or less; a statistical fact. One-quarter of people have an I.Q. greater than 110; that is still a lot of people, but it is only 25% of all people.
Rich people are also in the minority, but they hold an excess of power in the political sphere. Because they are aware that there are many more not-so-smart people, and that these people can be more easily swayed, the rich move to the right, brainwash the vasted uneducated masses, gain power, and then they make laws to favor themselves and make themselves richer. That seems awfully sleezy to me.
How then do we convey the extent of the warprd ethics of the rich and powerful to the masses? How do we convince the brainwashed that they are brainwashed? They believe what they believe and when faced with another truth, they just dig in their stubborn heels. It becomes nearly impossibvle to get through to them; it's hard to even get them to consider truths beyond their narrow thinking.
